Bank of Beirut (UK) Ltd was formally established as a UK incorporated wholly owned subsidiary of Bank of Beirut sal on 14 August 2002 and began trading under this name on 9 December 2002.
The Bank is not however new to the London market, having originally established a presence in London in 1981 as a branch of the former Beirut Riyad Bank sal. Bank of Beirut sal subsequently acquired a majority shareholding in Beirut Riyad Bank sal, which resulted in the merger of the two institutions in Lebanon leading to the transfer of all the London Branch assets and liabilities to Bank of Beirut (UK) Ltd. |

Lebanon has historically seen its population spread throughout the globe, in Africa, Europe, Northern and Southern American continents. The London office has seen the importance of its location grow over the years to become an essential element in providing banking services to the Lebanese community, not only those based in London, but particularly with the ever improving telecommunication and IT systems, from across the world.
With strong backing from the Board and a paid up share capital of £25 million, the Bank continues to maintain its focus in providing Trade Finance related products and services but also continues to develop its Correspondent banking services together with more traditional banking products for its corporate and retail customers.
Together with the support of the Parent Bank network, which now covers 41 branches within Lebanon, plus an International Banking Unit in Cyprus and Representative offices in Dubai, UAE; Doha, Qatar; and Lagos, Nigeria we are in a position to develop the business to ever expanding regions and markets.
